May 16th will be the 10-year anniversary for The Scarlet Thread Quilt Co. at their brick-and-mortar store, and they couldn’t be more thankful!
Originally started in the upstairs portion of her home, Julie started long arming her own quilts and had a little bit of fabric in her Etsy store. However, as the fabric shelves filled up many rooms of her house and a second long arm machine was added, it quickly became apparent that she needed her own space to run her business from. One fixer upper ranch-style home and lots of renovation, TLC, and revamping later, The Scarlet Thread’s store front was born in countryside of north-central Indiana and was ready to open to the public.

Summer 2024: The Scarlet Thread 10 Years Later
After 10 years of business, they’ve sold lots of fabric, made lots of quilting friends, and helped people preserve and create memories through sewing and quilting. It’s a great privilege to be able to play a part in someone’s planning, crafting, and creation of a project and it’s something they don’t take for granted. Whether it’s a throw quilt that will be a staple in a home, a little dress for a new child or grandchild, purses that will certainly be handed down to future generations, or quilts made of shirts or vintage fabric that will serve as the last memories of someone who isn’t with us anymore, The Scarlet Thread gets a unique opportunity to connect with customers and friends.
10 years later, they’ve expanded their product line from just fabric to a whole variety of fabric, notions, home goods, and long arming services. What once started as a dream has now been a reality for almost a decade and is now accompanied by many more dreams in the works that they’re hoping to bring to life. They’re glad to be here, They’re glad you (the reader) are here, and hope that sometime you can stop by to visit their little slice of heaven!
